CMC Tryout and Placement Info

Central Mississippi Cheerleading has been one of the most recognized gyms in the country for over a decade.  The 2012 – 2013 season has been one of the most successful seasons in the history of our gym with over 36 Championships and 20 Grand Championships from our 8 teams, and we still have Beach Nationals to go! 4 of our teams will be receiving Grand Championship Jackets or apparel already! Because of our large success this season, we expect our tryouts for the 2013 – 2014 season to be bigger than ever.  We have put together some information about tryout requirements, programs that we offer, and changes for the next season.  We also have a series of camps and clinics that we will be offering to help current and potential CMC athletes prepare for our tryout and placement program.  CMC will also continue to offer our pre-school program, tumbling classes, strength and flexibility classes, and many other programs.

CMC will be offering 3 types of all star programs for the 2013 – 2014 season. These programs were developed in order to match the participant’s desire for competition and progression, and to cater to their level of commitment.  Cheerleading is a great recreational sport that builds character, develops excellent teamwork skills, helps with goal setting, promotes great confidence, and is one of the best activities for a very healthy lifestyle in kids and young adults.  CMC understands that many of our participants focus on these excellent positive aspects of being part of our program.  We also understand that many CMC participants focus is on competition.  With cheerleading’s status as one of the most rapidly growing competitive activities in the world, many of our athletes focus on this aspect of CMC.  The coaches have developed excellent programs to make sure everyone can be involved in the great things going on at CMC.

First, our tryouts and placements will be held May 1st – 4th. You will have the option to choose any one of these days.  Next, understand that CMC will place all ages, ability levels, beginners, and veteran cheerleaders into a CMC All Star program.  Once again, there are no requirements for the placement process.  The three programs we will offer will be CMC Showcase, CMC All Stars, and CMC Elite All Stars. Below you will find details about the different programs.

CMC Showcase is an excellent program for beginners and advanced cheerleaders that wish to train in a team atmosphere with highly professional and elite level coaches.  It is a program that only requires one day a week for one hour in the gym.  This program focuses on individual skills such as tumbling, jumps, strength, flexibility, motions, dance, and performance as well as group skills involving stunting and other building skills.  This program meets for 8 – 10 weeks at a time and is concluded by an exhibition for parents and friends.  There are no requirements for this program and no placement required.  You only need to sign up to begin!

CMC All Stars are made up of our highly competitive teams.  We will offer CMC All Star teams to all ages and abilities.  After going through a placement, you will be placed on a team with similar ages and abilities.  These teams will meet twice a week for a total of 3+ hours a week.  They will have some limited extra practices before competitions.  The attendance requirement will be more strict than Showcase.  The commitment for this program will be one year.  CMC All Stars will compete in regional events and two national events in the Southeast.  The goal of all CMC All Stars will be to win at each level. This is where CMC started and made a great name for ourselves!

CMC Elite All Stars will be a Nationally Competitive program.  Potential members of CMC Elite All Stars will go through a tryout process in individual skills and those wishing to be flyers will also tryout.  These teams will compete at local and national competitions.  The attendance requirements and dedication for this program will be at a very high level.  These teams are placed to compete against some of the largest programs in the country from Atlanta, Dallas, the Northeast, Florida, and California.  These teams will practice at least twice a week and will have many extra practices before events.  The level of commitment for these teams will be extremely high.  These teams will also travel throughout the season.
